Feeding The Young Showjumping Horse
Maintaining a trainable temperament whilst supporting weight gain and muscle development in the young horse can often be tricky.
Area Feed Adviser Abi Turner suggested feeding Mary, a 4-year-old showjumper owned by Cerys on Condition-Improver Cubes to ensure she was getting all the nutrients she required on a daily basis, whilst also having the building blocks to support muscle and topline development.
'Mary's been on them for just over 3 weeks and I have already seen a difference in her weight, coat condition and stamina!'
Condition-Improver Cubes are great for young horses as they are whole oat and barely free reducing the reliance on starch and helping support a trainable temperament. They have the unique inclusion of EQUI-JEWEL®, which is a high fat stabilised rice bran supplement that supports weight gain, muscle tone and topline development when fed in conjunction with a suitable exercise regime. Formulated on 'Super-Fibre' and oil, the cubes provide slow release energy for work whilst supporting digestive health and managing a healthy coat.
When fed at the recommended amount the Condition-Improver Cubes provide a complete feed and no additional balancers are required. For a 16h horse like Mary you would be looking at feeding 2kg of Condition-Improver Cubes a day.
