HOW QUICKLY DOES IT SOAK?
RE-COVERY MASH soaks in 2-3 minutes when using warm water and 5 minutes in cold water.
MY HORSE HARDLY DRINKS ANY WATER, WILL THIS HELP?
As RE-COVERY MASH is designed to be fed as a soaked product, this will help to increase your horses water intake. The inclusion of electrolytes in RE-COVERY MASH will also help to stimulate the thirst response in your horse, encouraging them to drink more.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I FEED?
Feed up to a maximum of 3kg per day. Please note that higher intakes may reduce your horse's appetite for their hard feed, therefore reduce the amount of RE-COVERY MASH that is fed if this occurs. As a guide, we would recommend feeding 100g per 100kg body weight in each serving
CAN I FEED THIS TO MY HORSE WITH ULCERS?
RE-COVERY MASH contains 10% starch and 6% sugar and is suitable for horses prone to digestive upset when fed in small quantities. The guidelines state that when managing a horse with digestive issues, not more than 2g of starch per 1kg of bodyweight. For an average 500kg horse, you would be looking to keep the starch content below 1kg per day. When feeding 500g of RE-COVERY MASH, this will provide 50g of starch, however, it will be important to take into account the starch content of the horses current feed as well.
HOW SOON AFTER COMPETING SHOULD I FEED THIS?
RE-COVERY MASH can be fed as soon as your horse has adequately cooled down after work. Optimum feeding time is 1-3 hours after work as uptake of nutrients is increased during this time.
WILL THIS AFFECT MY HORSES NORMAL FEED?
RE-COVERY MASH is designed to complement your horse's normal ration. It is un-fortified and therefore will not cause an imbalance in the diet.
CAN I FEED IT EVERY DAY AT A COMPETITION?
Yes, RE-COVERY MASH can fed every day at a competition or on a daily basis alongside a balanced diet.
CAN I FEED IT DRY?
No, this product is designed to be fed as a mash to aid in Re-Hydration.
HOW WET SHOULD IT BE?
We recommend soaking 1 part feed to 2 parts water, however, this product can be made to the desired consistency and can be fed with more than 2 parts water to encourage additional water intake.
THE FEED CONTAINS BARLEY, WILL IT HEAT MY HORSE UP?
Barley is included in this product to aid in muscle glycogen Re-Plenishment and due to the low inclusion, it is unlikely to encourage fizzy, excitable behaviours.
CAN I FEED TO MY HORSE THAT TIES UP?
Muscle issues such as tying-up are usually multifactorial, and dehydration can be a trigger. RE-COVERY MASH will help to ensure optimal hydration which is important to horses that suffer from muscle issues and will help to provide electrolytes that are important for muscle function.
